Student immigrants From Iran, members of the Iran Students Association today organized a demonstration in front of the U.S. Embassy calling upon President Obama to help the victims in Iran.
Shortly before the demonstration President Obama issued a statement saying that he was "appalled and outraged" by the violence against the Iranian people who were seeking to exercise their "universally recognized Human rights" to assemble and demonstrate.
This is a right also recognized by the Iranian Constitution, but obviously the Ayatollah, currently the supreme authority in Iran, does not feel the need to obey the constitution.
Obama also termed the brutal murder of Neda Soltan, "Heartbreaking, fundamentally unjust. We have viewed a young woman killed in the streets of Iran, but we know that those who stand up against tyranny are on the right side."
If you want to know where Iran is headed, look at her proud, noble women.
Women have born the brunt of the brutality of the Islamist regime, as they say, "We have the most to gain in freeing our country."
The students lit candles before a photo and memorial of Neda, the 27 year old heroine who was brutally murdered by Basij thugs, a group of volunteers who enforce Sharia law in the repressive Islamic regime in Tehran.
The first laws passed in Iran, after the revolution against the Shah, were laws against women.
The mullahs encouraged polygamy, they lowered the age of marriage for women to 9 years old, they defrocked women judges and removed women from positions of responsibility.
They were strong supporters of women during the revolution, where women were the leaders and in the forefront, the Shah would not have been overthrown without them.
As is the way in Islam, they turned against them brutally once the Shah was removed from power.
The women of Iran, the Lionesses they are called, fought the Shah for more rights, not less.
The murder of Neda Soltan has galvanized them and the genie of women's rights, and human rights, will not be put back into the bottle.
Mr Mousavi is calling for a demonstration tomorrow at 4:pm.
